Recent adventures
This summer, I’ve been enjoying teaching my classes, going to the beach with my wife for a day every now and then, studying with friends, and attending some martial arts competitions as a spectator. Here are some highlights:
The Grand Ultimate Training Seminar on Tai Chi Swords
In late May, I spent the weekend in Arnold, Maryland at a two-day training seminar on tai chi swords. It was held at the Jing Ying Institute, and was a great way to spend the weekend!
The Kuo Shu Tournament
In mid-July, my kung fu brother Kevin and I spent a day in Bethesda, Maryland at the annual Kuo Shu tournament. Sadly, I forgot to get a photo of Kevin and me. But I also ran into two amazing martial arts teachers that I first met at the Tai Chi Gala in Albany, New York. Here I am with Sifu Donald Wong (left) and Master Rengang Wang. As you can see, we haven’t aged a bit.
The United States of America Wushu Kungfu Federation 2024 US Challenge
Finally, I went to Lanham, Maryland, to see the second day of the 2024 US Challenge, which is run by the United States of America Wu Shu Kung Fu Federation. It was remarkable to see so many different forms—both hand forms and sword forms—in competition.
